Jackie Collins, novelist and story-writer, dies at the age of 77

British-born best selling author, Jakie Collins passed away in Los Angeles, on 19 September 2015, two weeks before her 78th birthday. Author of 32 novels, all of which appeared on The New York Times Bestseller list, she kept her breast cancer secret from all but her closest family members, even though she had been diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer more than six years before her death.

Her racy novels, including the recent Santangelos novels and the famous Hollywood series, sold more than 500 million copies in across 40 countries. In her last interview with US People magazine on 14 September, she said she had no regrets about the decision to keep her cancer private.

Family Statement:

It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the death of our beautiful, dynamic and one of a kind mother, Jackie Collins, who died of breast cancer today. She lived a wonderfully full life and was adored by her family, friends and the millions of readers who she has been entertaining for over four decades. She was a true inspiration, a trail blazer for women in fiction and a creative force. She will live on through her characters but we already miss her beyond words.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Organization (U.S.) and Penny Brohn Cancer Care (U.K.).
